Across a Star-Swept Sea

Across a Star-Swept Sea - I was a little disappointed in this book. I was so obsessively in love with Darkness, that when I heard about a companion novel, it was pretty close to the top of my OMG I NEED IT NOW list. I love the idea of a society type party girl as a rebel spy. Maybe it was the complete lack of swoons. Maybe it was because I'm not familiar with the story that it's loosely based on. Maybe it was just my state of mind. Who knows. I do know that it took me forever to finish. I was struggling really hard to continue. I wanted more dialogue. The last couple of chapters were great and I LOVED the ending, but it seemed like too little too late. *Thanks to Edelweiss for the arc in exchange for an honest review*
The Coldest Girl in Coldtown - Holly Black 4.5 stars I LOVED this book. Loved the dialogue and Gavriel and the snark and Gavriel and [most of] the ending and did I mention Gavriel? The reason that it's not rated 5 stars is because I felt that the ending was a bit open ended. I mean it works for the story and everything leading up to the ending words was perfect, but I would have liked a little more closure. The dialogue is another reason. Holly writes such amazing dialogue between her characters, yet I feel like there wasn't a lot of talking....There were a lot of scenes that I read a few times before continuing and the last 50 or so pages of the book is absolutely amazing. To say I thoroughly enjoyed the entire story would be an understatement.
Into the Still Blue - Veronica Rossi This is such an excellent conclusion to the series. There's swoons and laughter and Roar and more swoons and fighting and kissing and a fuckton of swoons. I wanted to quote all of the lines, but refrained from it. Trust me, it's phenomenal and whatever I say here won't even be enough.
Starling - Fiona Paul This was my favorite of the series. Loved the action and the kissing and the everything about it. I didn't want it to end, but I loved how it did.
Wake Up Missing - Kate Messner This was the first books I've read where the MCs were around 12 years old. It was refreshing to read a story where the characters weren't wrapped up in high school drama or boys and the like. Very clever premise and a fast paced story made for an enjoyable and quick read. **Thanks to NetGalley for providing the arc in exchange for an honest review**
Shadows - Paula Weston 2.5 stars?I like the idea of the book, but there was something that just didn't work for me. Rafa has the potential to be a smirky, swoon-fest. There weren't a lot of scenes with just him and Gaby, the ones there were? They were amazing with some excellent kissing. I don't know if I'll read the next book, there's a good possibility. So many people I trust gave this one high ratings. Perhaps it's a mild book hangover from Dream Thieves?**Thanks to NetGalley for providing the arc in exchange for an honest review**
The Dream Thieves - Maggie Stiefvater 4.5 stars The Dream Thieves was nothing short of amazing. I absolutely loved learning about Ronan and his ability and the consequences that come with it. I always love Chainsaw and their interactions, and Maggie didn't disappoint in that department. Gansey and Blue? I don't even have the words for that shit. As with Raven Boys, I got a little lost in this book, but I came back at full force. And gah. It's just....awesome. Maggie writes like no one else I've ever read. I need to keep that in mind when I start her books. Her worlds are SO detailed and SO intricate that I tend to want to read every single word on the page while simultaneously getting irritated that I am doing that very thing. That is the reason it takes me days to read one of her books instead of hours. The ending was a bit cliffhangery and now I can't even wait for the next book in this series.**Thanks to NetGalley for providing the arc in exchange for an honest review**
WILD CARDS - Simone Elkeles I just can't waste my time with this. Too much telling, not enough showing [if any at all]. I got almost halfway through the the book and there was just one tiny scene of one football practice. I was expecting more, since its a major part of almost every character's life. I didn't care for Ashtyn or Derek as MCs, so I couldn't get invested in where they're story was heading. The one thing I did enjoy was the interaction between Derek and Julien, but those scenes weren't enough to keep me reading. **Thanks to NetGalley for providing the arc in exchange for an honest review**
Origin - Jennifer L. Armentrout I love this series and I'm pretty sure this is my new favorite of them all. It's got swoons and action and more swoons and kissing and shit getting blown up and did I mention swoons? The banter between Katy and Daemon is always perfection. This time, it's even better because even though Daemon is still a cocky ass, he's affectionate and swoony and did I mention the kissing? The ending wasn't as bad as I was expecting, but let's add book 5 [the name escapes me] to the cut-a-bitch-list.
Teardrop (Teardrop Trilogy) - Lauren Kate 2.5 stars?I like the idea of this book. Loved the ending and absolutely adored the epilogue. The problem I had was with Eureka. She was so unlikeable and whiny. There was so much potential with Brooks and Cat and both of them seemed to be used as filler. [I expect Brooks will have a bigger role in the next book.]A lot a lot a lot of build up. I don't think there were any real answers until the last 30 or so pages. To me, that means some of the story needs to be taken out, it barely kept my interest. Like I said, the last 30 or so pages were really good and I'm definitely intrigued to see what happens next, but I won't be dying to get my hands on book 2.

Relativity

Relativity - Cristin Bishara 2.5 starsI love the idea of this book. Who wouldn't want to see the different possibilities of their lives? However, it was a little too much work for me to read. I struggled with physics in school, even with my good friend's mom as the teacher. And since the majority of the book talks about string theory and the like, I felt more like I was reading a lecture than a book. Ruby is a good, smart character. She gets stronger as she travels through the universities and is definitely more level headed than I would have been. Overall, it was a quick read. I just wish there would have been more of a human element to it, instead of all the equations.**Thanks to NetGalley for providing the arc in exchange for an honest review**
The Beginning of Everything - Robyn Schneider, Robyn Schneider This book was amazing. I picked it up sort of on accident at SDCC. The author, Robyn, commented on my Doctor Who shirt and after a brief conversation, offered to sign an arc for me. And I'm so glad I took it. It had one of the best narrators I've ever read. Ezra is smart and snarky and I absolutely love that he has no idea WTF is going in with his life. But what I love even more is that he talks to his dog on a regular basis. Cassidy is quirky and witty and has just enough mystery to keep you guessing because I completely had it wrong with what I thought was going on. When we finally get all of the answers, it's a heartbreaking relief. I was so happy and devastated and I have so many feels. I don't think I have enough words to describe how fucking phenomenal this book is.
Dead Girls Don't Lie - Jennifer Shaw Wolf I'm not rating this only because I didn't get far enough in it. The e-arc has lines of gibberish throughout, making it nearly impossible to read. I am missing complete sentences and in one instance, an entire page.
All of You - Christina Lee I'll give Bennett 5 stars and Avery 2 stars, so I guess I'll rate the book a 3. I loved Bennett. He's honest and loyal and swoony as hell, he's exactly what a girl looks for. Avery has issues [of course she does, it's NA]. She's gruff and has a bit of an attitude problem, but we see her open up and relax a bit as the story progresses. The problem that I had [besides the gratuitous use of the words "tat" and "inked"] is that I didn't care enough about Avery to get invested in her turn around. I only wanted to see what Bennett's choices were in response to the things Avery did. The story was predictable, but enjoyable enough that I finished it. Thanks to Bennett. **Thanks to NetGalley for providing the arc in exchange for an honest review**
Find Me - Romily Bernard I liked Wick, but I LOVED Griff. He definitely made the story. Their banter was fun and I really enjoyed her snark. I had a hard time with the tempo of this book. Sometimes it was really rushed, sometimes it was slow and I'm not sure if it was intentional. If it was, kudos to the author for adding to my discombobulation. Overall, it was a quick read with some swoony surprises and some mystery that kept me guessing who the bad guy was. **Thanks to Edelweiss for providing the arc in exchange for an honest review**

Conjured

Conjured - Sarah Beth Durst I just couldn't get into this book. I didn't care for Eve and there was so much build up and not an ounce of explanation. Zach was the best part of the portion I read, and he was only in a few scenes. I got halfway through the book before I skipped to the ending. The ending is interesting, but I'm not sure I care enough to get there. I may pick this back up again at a later point. **Thanks to NetGalley for providing the arc in exchange for an honest review**
