2.5 stars? God that hurts to say. I loved Crewel, it was so magical and I adored the way time was presented in the book. It seemed like it was a character. Altered didn't feel the same way. Obviously, it's not going to -- they're on earth instead of Arras, for one thing. But Adelice seems to be indecisive about everything. The push and pull between her and Jost/Erik seems contrived. There are a lot of new characters in this new setting, but I couldn't find even one to care about. The ending was interesting, but I knew some variation of it was going to happen. I'm going to give it some time and do a reread, but either way, I'll definitely be reading book 3. Just so you know, it breaks my heart to type this as a review. Altered was one of the books I was most looking forward to in 2013.
