Adventures of a Book Junkie

Beware of Incessant Rambling. Seriously. Consider yourself warned. However, if you want more, check out my blog at www.toofondofbooks.com

Masque of the Red Death - Bethany Griffin 3.5 starsI'm not exactly sure what it is, but I felt like something was missing from this story. It didn't have the Poe-esque feel to it that I was expecting. I found Araby to be borderline unlikeable. Will and Elliot both go back and forth being charming in one scene and total a-holes in the next. Everyone in the story lies. Instead of it making for some excellent tension and build up, to me, it all seemed contrived. Oh, and the ending is quite abrupt. Not quite the I've-jumped-into-hell-The-End that some books have *cough*Demonglass*cough* but when I got to the ending sentence, I was sure I missed something. I had to reread the last page again to completely absorb how it was ending. And yet, even after all of this, overall, I enjoyed it and it's a very easy read. I will be reading the next one.
