The Rivals didn't have the same excitement to it that The Mockingbirds did.I did like that we got the inside track to how the Mockingbirds operate and I felt just as lost as Alex did when trying to figure out the right way to go about investigating the case that she was presented with. But, the entire book seemed to lack direction.... And maybe that is because the case in The Mockingbirds was so black and white: one victim, one perpetrator. The case in The Rivals had several people accused and victimized. I didn't like that even though Alex says she's madly in love with Martin, she's all of a sudden thinking about Jones. And keeping things about Jones a secret from Martin. All in all, it was a good read, but I enjoyed The Mockingbirds a lot more.
